Journalist and TV producer NICK LONG started writing kids books to avoid doing handyman jobs at his home in Sydney, Australia. He was so determined to dodge requests to hang pictures and attach curtain rails that he wrote a multi-book junior fiction series called THE FORBIDDEN JOURNAL OF RUFUS RUMBLE.
Lots of people love it and want him to write more. His wife and sons are proud of him but would be a lot prouder if he would install a towel rack in the ensuite bathroom. His excuse for not doing that is that he’s working on a new kids book series.
When he’s not writing kids books, Nick surfs, catches lobsters and makes TV documentary series for Netflix, Discovery and National Geographic. It’s a job that has taken him into the Amazon jungle in search of a lost city, into Madagascan tombs to exhume skeletons and into Alaskan ice caves to see if glaciers look different from underneath (they don’t).
His greatest honour came in 2024 when The Gloafians bestowed on him the title of KEEPER OF THE FUNNIEST WORD IN THE UNIVERSE™.
